Anniversaries, showers, reunions, suppers
A banquet hall you can book for a Tuesday
Anniversaries, bridal and baby showers, reunions, graduations, fowl suppers and the lunch after a service. $500 for a whole weekday, 7 AM – 12 AM.
A whole weekday in the whole building is $500, and the tables, the chairs, the dishes for 200 and the kitchen are already in it. That is the entire proposition.
Community hall rental in Manitoba is usually one of two things: a hall that costs nothing and looks it, or a banquet room attached to somebody's restaurant with a food minimum bolted on. This is neither. It is a heated, air-conditioned room on sixty acres, ten minutes from Steinbach, with free parking that does not make the older guests walk. The honest limits: the cheap rate is Monday to Thursday, there is no half day to book, and we do not set the room or decorate it. You get the building, the tables and chairs and the kitchen; the arranging and the decorating are yours, and the hall is left as you found it unless you add cleaning for $250.

How the day runs
What actually happens, in order
Two weeks out
You tell us the day and roughly how many. We walk whoever is cooking through the kitchen if they have not seen it, and we hand over the names of the people who do decor, flowers and catering, because we do none of the three.
The week before
You confirm the headcount. That number, not the invitation list, is what the per-guest lines are charged on, and the balance is due the same week.
7 AM
The building is yours — all of it, not a block inside somebody else's day. The tables and chairs are in it and you set them the way you want them; the dishes and cutlery are in the cupboards. Whoever is cooking gets both fridges, the stove, the microwave and a dishwasher that does a wash and rinse in two minutes, and nobody from here stands over them.
Midnight
Out, on any rate, and the hall is left as you found it — or you add After-Event Cleaning for $250 and we do the floors, the kitchen, the washrooms and the bins the next morning.
What it costs
What a weekday actually costs
One rate buys the whole building, 7 AM – 12 AM, with the tables, chairs, dishes and kitchen already in it. The lines under it are the few things we own and hire out. There is no half day, no hourly rate and no setup fee, because there is no setup — the room is yours to arrange and yours to dress.
Weekday, Monday to Thursday
The whole building, 7 AM to midnight, for five hundred dollars. Seminars, fowl suppers, showers, funeral lunches, reunions and AGMs all book this one.
$500
Friday or Sunday
The same hall and the same hours as a Saturday, two hundred and fifty dollars less. Sunday afternoons get the west light off the field.
$1,000
Saturday
7 AM to midnight on the busiest day of the week. Room for 200, with 180 sitting down comfortably for a plated supper.
$1,250
Bar
The rolling bar, wheeled out to wherever you want it and backed onto the kitchen pass-through so whoever is pouring is not cut off from the room. You bring the drinks and the permit.
$80/ day
Projector, Screen & PA System
Ceiling projector, drop-down screen, a wireless handheld mic, and house sound over 3.5 mm or Bluetooth. The line every seminar, AGM and slideshow-at-a-memorial adds.
$125
After-Event Cleaning
Floors, kitchen, washrooms and bins the morning after. Without it the hall has to be left as you found it — which on a wedding night means somebody's uncle mopping at two in the morning.
$250
Coffee & Tea Service
Urn coffee, tea, cream and sugar topped up from your first guest to your last, with a thermos left on each table. Around here the coffee runs out before the food does.
$2.75/ guest
One rate buys the whole building from 7 AM to midnight. Anything below it is something you add on top. Every rate we charge is on the pricing page.
A worked example
A fiftieth anniversary for 120, on a Wednesday
The family cooking, the grandchildren setting the tables, a slideshow on the screen, and nobody scrubbing a floor the next morning.
| Weekday hall rental, Monday to Thursday | $500 |
|---|---|
| Bar | $80 |
| Projector, screen & PA system | $125 |
| Coffee & tea, 120 × $2.75 | $330 |
| After-Event Cleaning | $250 |
| Subtotal | $1,285 |
| GST 5% | $64.25 |
| Total | $1,349.25 |
Those lines are $1,285 before tax and $1,349.25 after, which across 120 people is $11.24 each — the room from seven in the morning to midnight, the tables and chairs, the dishes, the kitchen, the bar, the projector, coffee all afternoon and the cleanup the next morning. Whatever the family cooks is on top of that, and so is anything you hang up, because neither is ours to sell. The $500 damage deposit sits on top as well and comes back within two to three weeks.

Questions
Is the weekday rate real, or is there a catch?
It is real, and the catch is that it is a weekday. $500 gets you the whole building Monday to Thursday, 7 AM – 12 AM, with the tables, chairs, dishes, cutlery and kitchen in it. Friday or Sunday is $1,000 and Saturday is $1,250 — same room, same hours, same everything. If your occasion can move to a Wednesday, that is $750 you keep against a Saturday, and a fowl supper or a shower does not care what day of the week it is.
Is there a half day, or an hourly rate?
Neither. One rate buys the building from 7 AM to midnight, and there is no five-hour block, no hourly line and no overtime. A shower that runs from two until five and a reunion where nobody leaves until the light goes pay the same $500 on a Wednesday. It is the simplest thing about booking here and it is the thing people ring up not believing.
Do you set the room, or rent decorations?
No, and no. We do not set rooms, we do not decorate, and there is nothing here to hire for the look of it. What you are renting is the building, the tables and chairs, the dishes and the kitchen; the layout is yours to arrange and the decorating is yours to bring. What we will do is point you at the people who do it for a living: Let's Celebrate Rentals at letscelebraterentals.com for linens, backdrops, arches and centrepieces, and Honeyblossom Weddings for the flowers. Nothing is booked through us and we take no cut of any of it.
We are only forty people. Will a 200-seat hall feel empty?
It can, and it is a layout problem rather than a reason not to book. Forty people spread over rounds across the whole floor reads like a school gym. Forty at long tables in one block, at the end of the room with the rest of the floor dark, reads full — it is the best-looking way this building sets. The tables and chairs are already here and you arrange them however you like. We will tell you on the phone where to put forty people, because we have watched it go both ways for years.
Can the family cook, or do we have to hire somebody?
The family can cook. There is no in-house catering here, so there is nobody to keep you out of the kitchen and nothing to charge you for going in: two fridges, a stove, a microwave, a coffee maker, our serving thermos, and a commercial dishwasher that runs a wash and rinse in two minutes. No kitchen fee, no food and beverage minimum, no approved list. If you would rather not be cooking at your own event, Anna's All Occasions has worked in that kitchen and knows where everything is.
What do you do for the lunch after a funeral?
A weekday is $500 and that is usually the whole of it. The room from the morning, the tables and chairs, the dishes for 200, and coffee and tea at $2.75 a head so the urns never run out, which around here matters more than the sandwiches. Add After-Event Cleaning at $250 if nobody in that family should be mopping a floor that week. We do not set the room and we will not pretend otherwise, but this is the one booking we will hold a date on at short notice and sort the paperwork out afterwards.
Half the family will not RSVP. What headcount do we pay on?
The one you confirm the week before, not the one on your invitation list. Coffee and tea is $2.75 a head, and a cousin who does not turn up is not a cup anybody poured. Everything else we charge is flat — the hall, the bar, the projector, the cleaning — so ten people either way moves the invoice by $27.50, not by hundreds. The balance is due the week before, the same week you give us the number.
Put in a Wednesday and see what it comes to.
Date, headcount, and whichever of our things you want on top of the room. The quote itemises every line and adds the GST, so you can take a real number back to the family.
