What a Manitoba wedding venue actually costs
7 min read · Published September 12, 2026
The short answer
Ours is $500 Monday to Thursday, $1,000 Friday or Sunday, $1,250 Saturday, and $2,500 for the whole Friday-to-Sunday weekend — and that buys the building from 7 AM to midnight, with the tables, chairs, dishes, kitchen and gazebo in the price. City hotel ballrooms typically start around $2,500 before food, and many carry a food-and-beverage minimum on top.

Almost no venue in this province publishes a price. You ring, you get a PDF three days later, and you have no idea whether it is a good number because you have nothing to hold it against. So here are ours, and here is what the parts of a venue bill actually are.
The rental itself
This is the number everyone means when they ask what a venue costs. At Bristol it depends only on which day you take:
| Day | Hours | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Monday to Thursday | 7 AM – 12 AM | $500 |
| Friday or Sunday | 7 AM – 12 AM | $1,000 |
| Saturday | 7 AM – 12 AM | $1,250 |
| Friday to Sunday | three whole days | $2,500 |
All CAD, before 5% GST. There is no half day and there is no hourly rate. One price buys the building from seven in the morning until midnight, and nobody else is in it while you have it.
The gap between a Saturday and a Friday is two hundred and fifty dollars for an identical room. If your budget is tight and your guest list is not, moving the date is the largest single lever you have — larger than any decision about flowers.
The weekend rate is the other one worth the arithmetic. Booked as three separate days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday come to $3,250. Taken together they are $2,500, so the weekend saves $750 and the late hours on the Saturday night are in it at no charge.
What is in it, and what usually is not
The thing that makes venue quotes hard to compare is that "hall rental" means different things at different halls. At most places you are renting four walls. Here, the rental includes:
- Tables and chairs for up to 200
- Dishes and cutlery
- The kitchen — two fridges, a stove, a microwave, a coffee maker, and a commercial dishwasher that runs a wash and rinse in two minutes
- The 12 × 28 gazebo, for an outdoor ceremony
- Parking, overnight included, at no charge
Which means the things you would otherwise rent — and they are not cheap — are already in the price. A 150-guest china and cutlery rental in Winnipeg is typically several hundred dollars before delivery. Tables and chairs for 150, delivered to a rural address, is several hundred more.
Two things we own are not in the rental, and both are cheap: the bar is $80 a day and the stage is $80 a day.
And here is the part most halls are vague about, said plainly: we do not set the room, we do not decorate, and we have no decor to rent. You get the building, the tables and chairs, the kitchen and the gazebo. You decorate it however you like, and we will tell you who does that for a living around here. Every drape, backdrop and linen in the photographs on this site was put up by the couple and their own suppliers, not by us.
The four line items that move a venue budget
1. Cleaning
Either you do it, or somebody does it for you. Ours is $250 and it covers the floors, the kitchen, the washrooms and the bins the morning after. Without it, the building has to be left as you found it before the keys go back — which on a wedding night means a relative mopping at two in the morning. Nearly everyone takes it and nobody regrets it.
2. The late finish
The rental runs to midnight. Holding the building to 1 AM is $200. This is a real decision, not an upsell: a reception that has to clear by twelve is a different evening from one that does not. On the Saturday of a whole-weekend booking it costs nothing, because it is already in the $2,500.
3. The day before
Decorating on the morning of your own wedding is the most common regret we hear, and since we do not decorate for you there is only one fix: own the building the day before. A Friday on its own is $1,000. The Friday-to-Sunday weekend is $2,500 and is the reason most couples take it. If you are hanging anything from the ceiling, treat the extra day as mandatory.
4. Service, priced per head
This is where a per-guest number quietly becomes a large number, so it is worth seeing the arithmetic at a real guest count. At 150 guests:
| Service | Per guest | At 150 |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee and tea, topped up all night | $2.75 | $412.50 |
| Late-night coffee and squares | $4.50 | $675 |
Neither is compulsory. Both are the kind of thing a family member ends up doing instead, which is fine — as long as you have decided that on purpose rather than discovered it on the day.
Every number on this page is in the quote builder. Put your real date and guest count in and it does the arithmetic for you.

A worked example
A Saturday wedding for 150 — the bar out, the night held to 1 AM, coffee going all evening, squares at ten, and the building cleaned the next morning:
| Saturday hall rental, 7 AM to midnight | $1,250 |
| Bar, one day | $80 |
| Late-Night Extension to 1 AM | $200 |
| After-Event Cleaning | $250 |
| Coffee and tea, 150 × $2.75 | $412.50 |
| Late-night coffee and squares, 150 × $4.50 | $675 |
| Subtotal | $2,867.50 |
| GST 5% | $143.38 |
| Total | $3,010.88 |
That is the room, the gazebo, the kitchen, the dishes, the late hours and the cleanup for a 150-guest Saturday wedding — about $20 a head. It does not include food, drink, flowers, decorating, a DJ or a photographer, because none of those are ours to sell you.
The same list across the whole weekend swaps $1,250 for $2,500 and drops the $200 extension, because the late hours are already in the weekend rate. That comes to $3,917.50 before GST and $4,113.38 with it — about eleven hundred dollars more, for Friday to decorate and Sunday to load out in daylight instead of at one in the morning.
How this compares
We cannot publish other venues' numbers and will not guess at them. What we can say is the shape of the market: a Winnipeg hotel ballroom generally starts around two and a half thousand for the room, often carries a food-and-beverage minimum in the five figures, and requires you to use their catering. A rural hall trades the chandeliers for a kitchen you are allowed to walk into and a caterer you chose yourself.
Whether that is the right trade is genuinely a matter of taste. It is not a matter of arithmetic — the arithmetic is not close.
What holds the date
A $500 damage deposit, returned within two to three weeks after the event if the building is undamaged. The balance is due one week before. There is no non-refundable booking fee on top of that, because we have never understood what one is for.
Prices on this page are ours and current as of September 2026. They are the same numbers the quote builder charges, because both read from the same list.
